The Social: Superheroes and Comics

For  Under 25s

Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museum’s Young People’s Collective invite you to take part in an evening of creative fun, inspired by the colourful world of superheroes and graphic novels.

Tickets are non-refundable. Suitable for Young people aged 13-25 years.

Costume Competition
Think you have what it takes to be Batman? Why not dress up for the event and show us what you’ve got! You may be in the chance of winning a themed Mystery Prize if you’re judged to be among the best dressed cos-play characters!

Pop Corn Cart
Who doesn’t feel peckish when they go to the movies? Have no fear as Pop-corn will be here…and it’s free! Fancy fruit punch will also be available!

Devolution Story Creation
Aberdeen’s very own comic creators Devolution will be making an appearance. Watch and learn as artist Marie Duguid shows you how to create your own comic strip and storyboard.

Hero-Games Challenge
We all love to play games, so why not join in on our special hero quest! Take part in a series of mini games with the opportunity to collect delicious treats along the way and be in with the chance of winning the Mystery Grand Prize.

Manga Illustration
Ever wondered how Manga characters are created? Join in with this fun drawing activity and one of our talented Young People’s Collective artists will show you how it’s done.

Pop Bang Pow!
FREEZE! BANG! ZAP! Strike a powerful superhero pose, with fun props and speech bubbles, in front of a Gotham City Skyline at our Photo Station. Our Young People’s Collective photographers will snap away and you’re images will be made available for free download after the event.

Happy Accident Collective: Screen Printing
Get creative with the guys from Happy Accident Collective and screen print your own bespoke posters to take away as a memento of your evening.

Giant Comic Story
Add your own ideas and imaginative characters to the biggest story board ever created at the Museum! Take this opportunity to contribute your drawings and quirky stories and watch them come to life in this continuous comic strip.

PopArt Body Bar
For those fashion forward fans of quirky body art, be sure to step into our body painting bar. From lightning bolts to pop art lips, our artist will be on hand to create all manner of quirky and colourful designs to brighten up your look!

Pop-up Stalls
We will have a small selection of local stall holders selling affordable goodies on the night, including Happy Accident Collective prints and comic book store Asylum. Stay tuned for more names in the New Year.
